ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Hailing from Birmingham, Namywa is an international recording artist, performer, & songwriter speaking truth to power, with a fearless lyrical approach to subjects that mean a lot to her. Whether singing with just a guitar accompaniment or a full band her unique singing style leaves music lovers feeling that once again, the world may see another great voice emerge from the region that amongst others, gave the world Joan Armatrading & Laura Mvula.

Making her debut on the UK Country music scene, in 2023 Namywa played Buckle and Boots Festival and won a competition to play Song Fest via the UK Americana Association. Namywa’s music is inspired by artists like Amy Winehouse, Yola, Samira Joy, Paloma Faith & Tina Turner.
Using life as a muse Namywa writes songs that deliver on true emotions, surprising listeners with a voice & aura way beyond her years, blending genres of Americana music, Soul and Jazz. Namywa accompanied by her live band has supported the likes of UB40, Beverley Knight, Paloma Faith, Public Enemy, Brian Jackson, The Floacist, Jimmy Cliff, Teedra Moses, Jacob Banks, Etta Bond, Lola Young and played ahead of Snarky Puppy and Gabriele in 2017 and 2021 at Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
In the live setting, Namywa is quite simply a force of nature, with her striking styling & accomplished stagecraft, making her the focal point of an exciting live band. Notable achievements include being recognised as a 2023 Future Figure by BBC 1Xtra, and receiving support from MOBO Awards and Help Musicians UK to develop new music scheduled for release in 2024. After spending time in the studio with Ian Barter and Gil Gang this year, Namywa went onto work with Grammy Nominated writers including Rachel Walker-Mason, Jamie Hartman and Beth Nelson.
